You know, I thought we might get more consensus as we went along, but it seems to be getting worse.
My big takeaway is, the power 4 conferences are getting way more benefit of the doubt than the non-power 4 teams. Mississippi State being the prime example. Going 1-3, but being ranked higher than ever non-power 4 except for Liberty and Notre Dame.
I’m sure in a month it will be better, but we are really seeing some wild results here.
Trends:
- Texas is no longer the unanimous #1, with the 7th place Georgia Bulldogs stealing a top ballot spot
- Louisville is such a quality team that they rise with a win, but so does the team they beat, the Yellow Jackets of GT
- UT Bowl is on
- Utah, Michigan and Missouri all jump 9 spots, just Missouri jumped backwards
- Most ballots were cast before UNLV’s Matt Sluka declared he was sitting the season, but voters still cast out UNLV
- Lots of new rankings this week, with clempson and South Carolina joining in at 15
- The teams that dropped out were especially odd, with the higher ranked teams dropping harder on average
- Vandy (1), lmao
As the person who voted Vandy (and only at #25) I would like to point out they did hold a top 25 team to an OT, so it’s not like they are completely terrible. I think they have potential to upset a ranked team this season that doesn’t spend the time to prep against them.
I will now take my downvotes.
I actually don’t really disagree with the ranking, it’s just funny cause it’s Vandy
Ranked Indiana! Could this be the return of the promised 9Windiana that we were supposed to get in 2019? Hmmm, I wonder which team robbed them of the 9th win in the bowl game…
Certainly not the team that began the 2019 season by losing to Georgia State, heh… glances around nervously
