A funny (see: sad and disappointing but not surprising ) part but not certainly the only funny part:

Boebert said she was “extremely disappointed in the bias” of reporter Ryan Warner’s questions about a third of the way through the interview, and she later battled with him over climate change and water, saying “there’s certainly a reason” she doesn’t “listen to CPR news.”

Imagine being so much in a bubble of the Republican cult that you think it somehow normal to be scornful of fact-checking?

I’ll jump on the fact checking train:

Warner: Well, first of all, I get to say things as a journalist to set the record straight, so inflation is easing.

Rep. Boebert: Oh, you’re going to fact check me during the interview?

Warner: That’s exactly right, and inflation is easing.

Rep. Boebert: Okay, this is adorable. Go to your local King Soopers or your City Market and ask the shoppers if inflation is down when they’re buying one dozen eggs for $7, $10,

I don’t know Colorado specific geography well. I just went to the King Soopers web site and picked a random Denver location:

Here is eggs for $3.09/dozen, so Boebert is wrong again.

She’s not wrong, she’s lying. And her lie resonates with the perceived reality of many viewers, who aren’t going to check egg prices to make up their mind.
They’re just gonna get the warm fuzzy feeling that Brobert will do something about them.

I’ve heard the magabrained who actually do go shopping for things like eggs claim ridiculously absurd numbers, or nod along to some other magabrain who is claiming absurdly high prices. They definitely know better, but they’ll go along with it anyway.

And then there was that “JD” Vance standing right in front of a sign for egg prices, lying about the price of eggs.

        They are brazen liars.

I used to work at a grocery store. I knew the prices of pretty much everything because I would ring everything up and do corrections at customer service. Prices are absolutely still way higher than pre pandemic. I’d say 30% more at least, with some items in particular having doubled.

That has nothing to do with democrats though. Supply shock in Covid, bird flu for eggs in particular and then straight up greed / monopolistic grocery stores are the reasons we’re seeing higher prices. The Republicans will do absolutely nothing to fix these issues, but use high grocery prices as a dog whistle to rile up their base who are too uninformed about how anything works, and just eat that shit up. You can listen to any earnings call to hear these chucklefucks gloat about how they are working to find price (figuring out just how much they can squeeze out of people) while also having record earnings.

Republicans like to use the term “fact-check” as if it’s unfair and biased.

Fact-checking is only a problem if what you’re saying is untrue. That says a lot about the Republican party.

It remains so absurd to me that so many Americans just accept that their political party is afraid of facts. That verifiable truth is a terrifying “agenda.” You cannot convince me that anything would disqualify the Republican party in these people’s minds, because denying reality itself is already a bridge too far for any rational mind.

Why do you think they set out in the 80s (Ronnie Raygun’s admin doing away with Fairness Doctrine) and 90s (Faux, Limbaugh and his many imitators and hatriot radio) to work so hard to build their propaganda outlets that act as their sources of “news”? They were forever butthurt that the “liberal media” worked to bring down their Nixon. They were equally prickly about Iran/Contra being found out, too.

QAnon and Trump taught Republicans that its totally ok to live in an alternate reality where they are always correct and never have to admit to being wrong, or if they do want to admit to being wrong, its because of a vast elaborate conspiracy.

They live in a delusional fantasy land. Its basically mass hallucination/psychosis in service of a cult leader, but because there’s a lot of them, its not seriously considered a mental illness.

Religion taught them the alternate reality, from birth. All Republicans have done is exploit the logical weaknesses that religion embeds in the population.

It’s not a coincidence that the most religious are the most unwavering Republicans. There is a long and well documented history of their bloodthirsty nationalism.

Boebert mentioned her disappointment with the “bias” of Warner’s questions at that point. “It’s very unfortunate that we are having this time together to communicate policy and every one of your questions is so far skewed and is so partisan,” Boebert said.

Why are you talking about reality and facts when I try to lie about my party?!
