degrading chips, several microcode updates that didn’t fix anything, and trying really hard noy to honour any kind of warranty. Also just all around bad pr yet only tech geeks know about it.

you can probably just search “intel 13th 14th” and pick your favourite tech news source out of the results. if you prefer video, gamers nexus has a few videos about it and I’m sure every other reputable channel does as well.

Well I’m really glad that I chose an AMD Ryzen 5 7600 then! I literally just ordered parts for a new PC a couple hours ago and didn’t know anything about this. I was very close to getting the i5 14500 instead because it benches a little higher.

supposedly some are just fine and I’m not even sure what models are affected, but with exchanges being evaded strongly by intel it just feels too risky for me and I wouldn’t want anyone to buy in without knowing about it at least. I guess builders and stores would be obligated to refund faulty systems but if you get a gradual failure it may be too late when you notice.

Plus it’s just a huge PITA to do an exchange for something as large and useful as a desktop computer. In my case I’m building it, so I’d have to tear the whole thing down. No TY! I appreciate the warning, it makes me feel better about my decision.
