More or less a repeat of yesterday’s shave – the Omega in my soap is getting skinnier.

    Have a good Sunday!

My honing enthusiasm provided too much rationalisation for razor acquisition and so I have …several. The winnowing process is ongoing and I’m proud to have sold 5 x 5/8 last week.

6/8 is harder because I like them more. Lately I’m wondering: Do I really need two 6/8 hollow-but-stiff round point French blades?

I’m partial to the Grelot. I do appreciate that it’s a bit more hollow and as a Canadian I enjoy the etch. Plus it’s my only nice Grelot and there’s some cachet there. And it’s in better shape. But there’s just something to the TI and it’s similarly my best TI and the pitting isn’t anywhere important so just sorta adds character. And it’s more towards a quarter hollow so …sort of a different thing altogether?

Inconclusive. More study required. Luckily they don’t take a lot of space.

Also: I’m always curious to see the grind toe-on every time I see a picture of a straight razor and that shot should somehow always be included in the metadata or something :)

    October 20, 2024

    • Brush: Wolf Whiskers - “Gianmaria” w/26mm Super Plush Synthetic
    • Razor: Chiseled Face - Legacy Raw Titanium (#69)
    • Blade: Wilkinson Sword Classic (2)
    • Lather: Meissner Tremonia - Woody Almond - Soap
    • Post Shave: Chicago Grooming Co. - Frankie & Myrna - Aftershave
    • Post Shave: allMan - Refined - Balm
    • Fragrance: Barrister & Mann - Lavender, Interrupted - EdP

Meissner Tremonia is such a strange soap. It loads super poofy, but adding water settles it down and it’s really excellent after that. Woody Almond is the perfect description for this. It’s not like a sweet almond like Stirling Almond Creme or Cella (I imagine, although I’ve never smelled it). Instead it’s a dry almond. Like smelling a bag of roasted almonds.

    20.10.2024 - Sunday Rambling

    • Brush: RazoRock 400 Noir SE
    • Razor: Leaf Thorn
    • Blade: snapped KCG
    • Lather: Zingari Man - The Rambler
    • Post-Shave: Osma alum; Moon Soaps Old School “balm”

-> as usual: 2 passes on the head, 1 around the beard. A good shave with just minor irritation. The alum was just for 2 bumps I managed to cut up.

Not shaving since Wednesday left me with quite the stubble on my dome, but surprisingly the Thorn manages that easily.

I was in the mood for a great ZM soap, and since I only own two and one is a summer aquatic - it was Rambler time. A pretty sweet affair, since the tobacco listed isn’t my preferred “dried cigar leaf” scent but rather the tobacco flower. Nevertheless, it always lathers great and leaves my skin feeling very good. Heather knows her cosmetics stuff, she just had a unfortunate choice for a brand name.

Second microneedling treatment today. Unfortunately I wasn’t paying attention and got myself a 1.0 mm roller, while every source recommends 0.5 for beginners. Now I know why it’s actually a bit painful, but oh well - that’s the price of beauty. 😅
