need to embrace AI or get left behind

It should be noted that we’re hearing this a lot. But it should also be known that the only people saying it are the people making and selling AI.

Edit: I think I did hear this from Gartner, too, but from my experience, they have a bad habit of jumping onto hype bandwagons. So I’m taking it with a grain of salt.

No actually fuck the petty endzone dancing: make this shit make sense. How the fuck is Adobe execs saying “adopt our malevolently-designed Intellectual Property-stealer malware AI agent or lose your livelihood and become destitute” not the same kind of violence that artists saying “Adobe execs need to be shot” is? Practice what you preach, scab.

If you don’t want people advocating for bringing back labor raids on corporate scum, don’t uplift the violence that corporate scum inflict on us,

      SCAB.

      Fuck your civility politicking.

How about we switch it around: “Artists are telling Adobe to embrace their creative needs or risk being left behind.” Adobe is forgetting that Artists are the ones providing their revenue

Artists are dumb enough to still use Adobe, so they probably get away with it.

Adobe execs need to be kissed good night to sleep in their beds. This is a very reasonable policy. Intellectual property rights are a thing that makes a lot of sense. The commons are definitely not being encircled by people who have names and addresses.

The interesting part is that Adobe has a lot of IP. You don’t see them saying that you can freely use it.

It should be noted that Adobe can fuck right off, and computerized art is not the only kind of art. It is generous to even call it art. It’s still all called graphics in my opinion.

    I think they’re worried.

Without constant influx of fresh art, AI will devolve into deep-fried absurdist memes. :)

          And GhostScript!

Pandoc and LaTeX as an alternative to InDesign for book and paper publishing. Obviously not a direct replacement since they are macro languages and not GUI tools, but they are free and open source and capable of creating great looking output if you put in the time. There’s tons of free learning resources out there too.

Adobe executives need to embrace being dropped in favor of non-AI programs or be left behind.

I’m at an absolute loss as to why people use Adobe. It’s hot garbage and the price is WAY out of league. It’s a shining example of the open market not existing/working as advertised.

It’s exactly because of capitalism that everyone is using it. Adobe bought off and killed all alternatives projects. So most people are now dependent on Adobe for their workflows. There are alternatives now, but people are still being dumbasses and are sticking with Adobe instead of taking a small loss to re-learn with alternatives.
