I’m going to build an AMD gaming pc soon (moving from intel nvidia and windows). Is this the new chip to get?
itll (likely) be the fastest gaming cpu on the market, but it also likely wont be priced well either. the recent rise in price on the 7800x3d is due to a slow down on its supply, and probably also to make the 9800x3d serm like its priced well when its going to be costly.
To early to tell, we will have to wait for it to be released and benchmarked by Phoronix. But judging based on previous Zen5 CPUs and becnhmarks on GNU/Linux it should be very good. But let’s wait and see and also it will depend on how much it will cost and how much each one is willing to spend.
I just hope they keep the real world power usage down. I currently have a 5800x3d and if I can’t find a good mobo I might just upgrade to this if it performs well and doesn’t consume 120 watts at all times.
