Feel free to use this thread to discuss this week’s games or anything else going on in Canadian Football!
Last week (Week 14) in the CFL…
A close contest between the Tiger-Cats and Redblacks went the Cats’ way. The Redblacks are now 2 games behind the Cats, last place in the East. The Argonauts won by a large margin over the Allouettes, as did the Blue Bombers over the Roughriders who were without Mason Fine. The game of the weekend was the Stampeders @ Elks. The Elks won it 25-23 on the last play of the game. The Stampeders’ QB, Maier, left the game with an injury, I think - I’m not sure of his status. The Elks are currently last in the West, 1 game behind the Stampeders.
Both the Argos and Bombers clinched playoff berths this weekend. A rematch of last year’s finals looks quite possible
With the season starting to get towards the home stretch, and teams starting to settle into what look like the final playoff spots, the games become more meaningful for those close to other teams or those desperately trying to punch their ticket into the post-season. Should be a fun weekend!
Much like @Zamboniman suggested about teams fighting to punch their post-season ticket (Als) - Argos @ Als is a close contest (10-3) at the half! CK, Chad Kelly, looks like he might be having an off night, and the Als defence is looking strong 💪
Argos seem unbeatable this year. Yet again they manage to squeak out a win thanks to a blocked last second field goal.
Agreed. I follow and root for the Raptors (NBA) and Blue Jays (MLB), and I’m used to wanting my team to win as many games as they can. This level of Argos dominance in the CFL feels boring and undesirable, even for me as an Argos fan. I’m hoping there’s a little more intrigue as to who’s going to the championship than things currently look (rematch of last year). As a new to football fan, your comment last night about meaningful football games really aligned with what I saw from the Als (although I was secondarily watching to the Jays game). Compared to baseball at least, there looks like a much bigger effect for ‘trying harder’ when the games really matter in football
That Lions comeback though!
