For this Special Thursday Cinema Night, 8PM EST, I still have a few leftover horror movies from October uploaded, so let’s keep the ball rolling with Titane (2021). It is a French body horror centering on a woman who, as the result of a childhood car crash injury, has a titanium plate fitted into her head; as an adult, she develops a fetish for cars, which leads her on a strange and often-surreal journey. Oh, and did she mention she’s also a psychopath who likes killing people? A whole lot of bloody encounters ensue from there. Director is Julia Ducournau, who also did Raw (2016), which we watched a couple of weeks ago; this is her other most-well-known film.
After that is Paterson (2016), a bloomer rom-com from Jim Jarmusch, about a New Jersey couple consisting of a bus driver (Adam Driver) and his artist wife, and their slice-of-life antics as they follow their work routines and maintain their relationship. A simple, warm movie about love. Yep, that’s it. Despite that, it has received quite a bit of critical acclaim. Jarmusch has a good record on Hextube, so let’s give it a whirl.
We’ll start at 8PM EST on Hextube, right here:
