My parent’s neighborhood had a home that over decorated like this, but for Halloween. The town did something similar. Somehow classifying what they were doing as an event, requiring them to get a permit and “event” insurance.
Prior to this on Halloween during trick or treating hours, the volunteer emergency services dept. (bouncers for town events) would close off the street because of all the people, mostly kids everywhere.
Which turned into a problem, the over decorators lived on a well traveled route that went in and out of the subdivision.
If you were driving an emergency vehicle, you probably would have no idea this was going on unless you lived in the subdivision.
And they had the charity angle too, but I don’t think they had any idea what the true cost of putting on the show was. Mostly because they weren’t paying for it.
