Sigh… Just another patient gamer paradox game.
Here is every piece of DLC for Cities Skylines 2
X to doubt. It’s Paradox. There will be about 50 $10-20 DLC over the next 10 years.
It really should be with the addition of “so far” in the title.
I actually have no idea how to even keep track of the paradox DLC and the whole situation just makes me completely uninterested in their games. It’s just overwhelming and I don’t have the time to sort it out. I’m still scared of ever looking at Stellaris again.
The game’s not even out yet!
Imagine if they just… Put the DLC in the base game.
Shareholders: Fuck off! We need more cash
BUT QUARTERLY PROFIT INCREASES!
seethes in greed backed by the literal law
Man, I remember when mass effect 3 came out with day 1 dlc and everyone went mad. And look at us now
Base games are 80 dollars with the expectation of 40 dollar DLCs compared to full games being 30 bucks when I was a kid.
Here I was thinking they would tone it down for the sequel because a lot of the DLC for the first game was pretty worthless. Who buys a dozen songs for 4€ when you can just play spotify/youtube/mp3s in the background?
I guess this is to get you to pay for their subscription to enjoy the full game. But unless they are going to make the base game free it just feels like a ripoff.
My problem is when they withhold content from the base game in order to make more money on DLC. Otherwise I see no problem with the developer continuing to support a game for years and getting money in exchange for their efforts.
A lot of people think that they have to buy all of the DLC in order to enjoy the game; if you do, then it’s probably not that good of a game anyway. Buy the base game on sale, see if you like it, then slowly add DLC over time. Just my 2 cents.
Cities 1 has so many fucking mods/workshop assests you can play for hundreds and hundreds maybe thousand sof hours with no dlc
The DLCs kept City Skylines at the top revenue lists for all these years. People are buying them and it appearently brings in a lot of extra revenue.
Maybe it’s OK. Some of that revenue made it possible to make City Skylines 2.
Another way of doing it is like Counterstrike. They charge you once and then they add skins that some people are willing to pay for. It’s also frequently in the top revenue lists because of this. But this works because the skins are there to make you look cool for other players. It won’t work in a single player game.
Isn’t DLC counted separately for the revenue lists?
