Nope, I agree. I watched S01E01 and then bought all the books but I stopped reading a dance with dragons about halfway through because of the TV series and George Martin (fuck his fake middle initials) was complicit in destroying the source material. He made the choice to no longer be an author because of Hollywood money. Maybe it wasn’t possible to have the big pay day without selling your soul but he seems to have relished it.
I was under the impression that he was born George Raymond Martin and added the Richard for his pen name as a nod to Tolkien. I’m not entirely too sure what’s rubbing you in the wrong way with his “fake middle initials”, considering how many writers historically published under made up names.
As for the rest, it’s an opinion and I totally respect it - I don’t totally disagree either…
