No most Republicans know that it’s a real virus but what they generally believe is it is/was not as bad as we think it is/was and it was blown out of proportion. The Wuhan lab leak conspiracy theory is mainstream for Republicans. You can hear pundits reference it all the time. Do you not remember when they all started shrieking about it again like half a year or a year ago after a really grossly misinterpreted congressional hearing?
Wuhan lab leak conspiracies are mainstream. 52 percent believe the virus came out of a lab, including 59 percent of Republicans and 52 percent of Democrats, while 28 percent said it was from an infected animal.
Maybe try using numbers that aren’t over 4 years old over studies that are less than 2 years old.
85% GOP, 53% democrats. Yes it’s mainstream but the gap is massive. Hence why I said it’s not even close.
What those numbers tell me is the majority of democrats are just as stupid and chauvinist as Republicans.
The problem is bipartisan. We were fed anti-China propaganda by our media and government; this is the result.
So you’re just going to pretend the first half of this conversation didn’t happen and that I didn’t leave plenty of room for that obvious issue we all see. Cool.
The adult thing to do would be admit your information was outdated and wrong.
Don’t talk to me like that.
My information wasn’t wrong. It clearly showed that a majority of Democrats agree with Republicans, and that hasn’t changed. The only thing that has changed over the years is that Republicans have become even more stupid and chauvinist. It was outdated, I didn’t notice, but the updated information doesn’t contradict my point.
You’re trying to make this about Republicans vs Democrats, but the reality your own link shows is that this conspiracy theory has been made mainstream by our government and our media. Republicans are worse. Who fucking cares? Death to America.
You need to accept that the Democratic Party has played a major role in spreading these lies. Don’t absolve them.
You’re right that was a shitty tone and undeserved.
That being said my point is and always been that there is a way more acceptance of this conspiracy from republicans. I said a lot of democrats believe it. I said it was mainstream.
I recognize your point. My point is that it’s not just Republicans. We can’t let Dems off the hook for their complicity.
When did I do that?
