Key Points:

  • CDRomance has announced it will no longer be updated in the usual manner.
  • The website’s future is uncertain as Webmaster Spike asks for donations to keep it running ad-free.
  • Current updates are being hosted in the forum’s repository and require user login.
  • Romhacking.net, another notable ROM hack site, is set to close.

Why This Matters:

  • CDRomance has been a crucial resource for ROM enthusiasts and gamers seeking translations and hacks.
  • The recent lawsuits have driven significant changes in community sites.

Considering the uncertainty surrounding these sites, what do you think should be done to support this vital gaming community?

As far as I can tell, Spike is continuing his (extremely valuable and helpful to us) work, just behind the login at his forum. I finally signed up like I intended to, and it looks like business as usual. You guys should come, too.

This site is an incredible resource. I don’t know how he had been running it so far. The forums seem good, hope the community stays positive.

For some time the site has been reluctant in posting Nintendo stuff. Their focus seems to be hacks from other consoles like Playstation. If that’s the case, I don’t know why the owner is no longer posting new content to the site.
