Good morning. ☀️☀️☀️

Do you like audio books? I’ve noted that many people don’t like them or are at least blase about listening to them. Me I love them, especially when traveling. I’ve bought many over the years, starting with books on cassettes, then CDs, and now downloads. I keep hundreds on a USB memory stick which I keep plugged into my car and listen to them whenever I want. I gave my cassettes to Goodwill a while back. I still read, of course, and also have a small library of hard back novels. I generally do not buy both an audio and a hard back of the same book. I tried digital reading for a while, but that passed.
“Listening to the dulcet tones of a familiar voice is an appealing way to work our way through those books we’ve always meant to get around to but haven’t.” - Clare Thorp

@[email protected] Good morning—and, as always, lovely snap-shot.
I dabble in narration, so please excuse this unsolicited link to one of my readings.

@[email protected] I like them but only used them car commuting which I haven’t done regularly for years. I don’t get any other blocks of solo time to listen. I have a lot of books loaded to my ereaders but end up buying and reading physical books instead. There just is no substitute for a real book.
That sounds like my experience. 🙂
@[email protected] oh and I should qualify solo time blocks. I am solo working from home every day. I have lots of friends who can work while listening to narrated books. I can’t even listen to music with singing for the most part, I just end up concentrating on the words so I stick to mostly instrumental music during work.
Music you can ignore as white noise and concentrate on what you are doing. With a book, where you want to capture the words in your head, it doesn’t make sense to play it while you are trying to get something done unless it involves a repetitive activity that you don’t need to think about otherwise, if you need to focus on your work, you miss much of the book.

I usually have one going in my car that I listen to even on short trips around town (used to be to work). If we travel, I often but a couple of new ones. I also don’t listen to them in the house, I like TV, and I read books usually in the evening. Hmmm … it would be cool if I could load them up in my hearing aids … marketing opportunity? 😂

I’ve been trying to cut back on TV and don’t turn it on until late afternoon. I mostly stream movies and series. A problem I have is that once I sit in my recliner, it kind of grabs me and holds me down.
