last time I played warframe was probably around 2017-2018, I know a lot’s happened since then but as opposed to back then, I might be going in solo

how is the game these days? 1999 has me tempted to come back in :P

the game has changed a fair bit since then, Rebecca is now the creative director for Warframe while Steve is off on some quest to make a souls-like. But for now the future seems bright. Grinding is well uh, i wouldn’t say it’s easier but its also not harder, just different and a little more forgiving. you probably just missed the open world map and faction on Venus and Deimos, and a LOT of story quest.

If you are interested in 1999 (is breddy good) you will HAVE to do the following quests The Second Dream, The War Within, The Sacrifice and my favorite The New War, which is by far the longest one with the most content, it’s also really cool and diverges a bit from the standard run’n’gun-kill-everything-ever nukeframe gameplay, offering much more story content in exchange for a different, slightly slower gameplay.

post-TNW you will unlock a whole lotta content, like Kahl of Duty missions (also my favorites, but a lot of people hated them and now they’re abandoned), Archon hunts (which give you archon crystals that soup-up your chosen frame of war) and a whole river of Quests that you have to go through to play 1999 like The Kalymos Sequence and Angels of The Zariman, each one opens up their own syndicate and tile-set to play through.

Overall, you have a lot of game to eat through, but i personally wouldn’t rush to the finish line too fast cause end game is boring.

take your time, enjoy the game and cruise at your own speed.

It’s pretty great but there’s a lot of game there so I imagine it can be hard to get into if you aren’t trying to commit to spending some real hours learning the systems. They’ve spent a significant time streamlining things and putting information in the game instead of the wiki to their credit

tbh i am looking for a game to hyperfixate on in my spare time, so a lot of good game doesn’t sound too bad haha

It’s great! Warframe is my comfort game. I’ve been playing on and off since about 2018. comfy

I think it’s the best free to play game out there tbh, I’ve never seen a game that is such high quality for absolutely nothing and with primarily cosmetic mtx and no pressure to “pay to win”. It’s a huuuge game and you can just vibe with whatever as you go along. One example of this is when I came back after a hiatus there was a huge update with Duviri etc, and when I did the quest I was so lost and confused that I just completely ignored that entire part of the game for months lmao. Eventually I came back to it and it’s really fun and I spend a lot of time there now.

1999 also introduces a romance system, which I wasn’t expecting at all and I’m excited about it crush

2017/18 is almost exactly when I started and it hasn’t changed in any groundbreaking way since then, nothing at all like the old parkour 2.0 overhaul that fundamentally rewrote how you interact with the game. There’s just way way more game now, much higher-level areas and matching power creep for us, pets and focus got huge improvements, explosives knock you on your ass now instead of killing yourself.

I’m not 100% on my update dates but I’m pretty sure it’s almost a different game. If you were still around when the first open world on Earth dropped, there are now 2 more on Venus and Deimos, and a third in the form of Duviri, which takes place adjacent to the main story. If you weren’t around then… well, there are open world areas now.
Empyrean brought in Railjacks, space fighters you can crew with 3 other tenno (or a group of NPCs) in specialised missions. It’s… OK. fun for a while, but arduous to grind, even by Warframe standards.
There are personal bosses in the form of Grineer Kuva Liches and Corpus Sisters of Parvos, which can be killed through an elaborate game of mastermind for their shiny weapons or taken possession of so they’ll fight for you in battle.
The New War gives the Sentients much heavier involvement generally, and features a couple of really fantastic story missions. With the sentients comes the Archon Hunts, which are sorties but harder.
The Void has gotten more involved during several updates, giving a new class of top tier weapon modifications, a new extremely-to-obscenely-high level content mode, and an endless mission mode.

On top of the content, there’s been a lot of streamlining, UI modification, remastering of old maps, reworks of frames, reworks of Railjacks, reworks of Archwings, a damage rework, a syndicate rework, and that chair that pops Nidus’ cysts in the back of your orbiter now does more stuff.

I haven’t been on since 1999 dropped, but last time I checked it was in the best state it had ever been.

I quit right before Fortuna. And started back in September, if you care for your time then don’t play it since DE absolutely doesn’t, they give you around 12hrs worth of weeklies to do and all of it boring and repetitive. I did not enjoy what the game is now.

Ignore Nightwave until you’ve done more content. If you have to look at it, just change some damage types around so you can complete the odd daily while playing the rest of the game. It’s mostly there for the super obsessive MR30+ players who have already completed nearly everything else, which is why it’s almost entirely cosmetics, potatoes, and forma.

The onboarding for returning players was bad half a decade ago when I first tried returning to it, can’t imagine it is that much better nowadays.
