I stress on these tasks rather than completing them because if I don’t have these tasks to stress about, I’ll have to stress about the much worse tasks waiting just behind them in the queue.
Same, and if I don’t have tasks to stress about I suddenly am confused and have no idea what to do with my life and get bored.
Taskception
If only such a thing were possible
Sigh…
But then you worry if you did a good enough job at it…
I didn’t. Which is why everyone involved must hate me.
then undo them only to then do them again but worse than your did the first time
I know it’s a meme but that’s terrible advice.
If you finish all the tasks most employers will just give you even more tasks for next week.
Assuming they are work related tasks.
Still bad advice, imo. Unless you work at a great job you tend to accumulate responsibilities until you can’t handle another one.
Powering through tasks just raises the future expectations of management.
How would this be bad advice for things like household chores, personal projects, doing taxes, taking care of your own medical stuff, or voluntary responsible such as having a pet.
I think I misread the previous reply - I assumed they were saying “Would that still hold if they were work related tasks?” Instead they may have meant “This is only true for work related tasks” - I agree with the later point.
When it comes to personal tasks though there’s no reason to not do everything you’re able when you’re able to do it.
My apologies for the confusion!
That makes sense that you misread it, we are on an ADHD community after all. I tend to misread stuff all of the time. Props to you for acknowledging that you misread it.
Hey, if I can’t be honest about my shitty memory and reading comprehension here where will I be!
But how?
Don’t ask me, I haven’t done the thing yet.
What if I come close to finishing it just to add more work?
What worked for me was to have someone hold me accountable for missing work
Hmm that might be why I’m fine at my actual job but awful at doing anything productive at home. I told my coworker I needed someone to come “help” me by basically sitting in my living room judging all the laundry piles. Like, just come over and talk shit and redirect me when I get distracted every 12 seconds.
I also enjoy the task when I’m involved so I both loved my workplace, had fun, did productive shit and earned a wage
Working at home is hell for me, Starbucks is the next best place in the stead of a workplace
Can you be my accountability?
I… Do work exhibitionism…
I go to Starbucks, most vulnerable spot, preferably inside
Now, if I’m procrastinating, EVERYONE KNOWS IM PROCRASTINATING.
it works.
This is a great idea and I was excited until I remembered how hard it is to think deeply while my anxious mind tries to register everything around it.
Thanks! Just reminded me that I had a relatively simple task to do that would have been weighing on my mind at 2a.
Now the other tasks on my mind are “perpetual tasks” or otherwise aren’t so simple to complete, like finding a new job. So uh, how do I stop stressing about those tasks?
I do drugs about it but I’m not a perfect role model.
At least they’re prescription so there’s an air of legitimacy.
Help I can’t do the task
What is this heresy
