Summary

The Republican-led House passed a stopgap bill to prevent a government shutdown, funding operations through March 14.

The bill, which excludes a debt ceiling increase demanded by Trump, includes $100 billion in disaster aid and a one-year farm bill.

The measure now moves to the Senate hours before 12:01 a.m. Speaker Mike Johnson faced internal GOP divisions and external pressure from Trump, who opposed earlier bipartisan agreements.

Democrats criticized the process as prioritizing tax cuts for billionaires over critical programs like cancer research, highlighting tensions ahead of Trump’s return to office.

But Trump may be willing to take a “win” on a funding deal that cuts a significant amount of what he saw as “pork,” the source continued

I’m confused as to what was left out, the rejected bill tried to increase the debt ceiling and removed funding for children’s cancer research, among other things. The only change mentioned is the removal of the debt ceiling increase. Republicans finally reducing government waste by denying children’s cancer research funding…?

Republicans finally reducing government waste by denying children’s cancer research funding…?

Why are you asking this in the form of a question?

Republicans. Finally reducing government waste by denying children’s cancer research funding.

That’s how they look at it.

Elon Musk did more to energize and unite Democrats than any other person in the 6 weeks since the election.

And he got nothing to show for it, other than egg on his face. Trump? He lost and now looks weak.

What are you talking about? There were a lot more cuts to the Bipartisan funding bill, outside of the proposed debt ceiling increase. Looks like the Republicans still get all the cuts they wanted, just no debt limit increase. This is definitely being celebrated as a win on their side.

Absent were provisions that had infuriated Trump and his right-wing allies, including cost-of-living increases for lawmakers and giving Washington, D.C., control over a stadium site that could be used for the Washington Commanders NFL team. The legislation also excluded health care provisions to overhaul laws around pharmacy benefit managers, or PBMs, that were agreed to in the previous deal.

The best part is he won’t have the self-awareness to stop. When I need a silver lining, I think of all the shit Elon is eating and will continue to eat until he is pushed out.

Trump/Vance/Musk found out after fucking around. Looks like they’re going to be the ones getting fucked by their own party. Made Dems Great Again.

I can’t think of anymore turns of phrase they’ve previously used as parody.

Edit: CONGRESS ATE THEIR DAWGS. THEY ATE THEIR CATS.
