Hello, everyone. I’ve been doing a research on climate change, and I am looking for resources that demonstrate the relationship between capitalism and climate change. (I currently follow Our Changing Climate.)
Channels, videos, articles, books, statistics etc. are welcome. Thank you!
Second thought YouTube channel has a video on that. You can also look at consumerism, and throw away culture, caused by capitalism.
Yeah, I remember watching this video which was a great intro to the topic. I will consider your other suggestions as well. Thank you!
I found a YouTube link in your comment. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:
John Bellamy Foster writes a lot about the relationship between capitalism and climate change. You might start with his book, What Every Environmentalist Needs to Know about Capitalism, or see a shorter version in article form here.
Thank you, this looks promising! I’ll make sure to check it out.
anything degrowth related or written by Jason Hickel
I’m familiar with the concept of degrowth, but I am yet to read about it - thank you for the recommendations!
maybe this list will be useful : https://www.historicalmaterialism.org/ecology-marxism-andreas-malm/
Thank you!
you’re welcome. he mentions Klein’s book. i prefer some of the more theoretical work by e.g. John Bellamy Foster but Klein’s book is a good place to start. it’s full of detail and facts and relatively easy to read . if you don’t get as much as you like in the sense of ‘capitalism causes climate change’, take a look at Bellamy Foster or Hickel. Hickel is in some ways now specific . like , he will go into the details of carbon emissions and he has a lot on his website, including short blogs et c.
Klein’s book seems to be highly recommended, I will make sure to read it and then I’ll check out your other suggestions as well. Thanks for your assistance.
