Shout-out to one of my favorite managers of all time. Lady had some sort of complaint while I was ringing up her order. She asks to speak to my manager so I call someone over. Manager comes over to see what the issue is. Mind you this guy was the kind of person who would get in trouble for working too much OT from upper management. Hard ass worker, everyone loved him, always made friends with the customers. Anyway, she starts going off about her complaint or something and she says “well the customer is always right.” And he calmly looks her in the eye and says “not today ma’am.”

    Fucking love that guy

The image is from the movie The 40 Year Old Virgin. You should watch it if you haven’t already.

I worked retail with a manager that had one hell of a temper and no fuse - he’d be screaming at me at least once a day, terrifying the customers - but we were good once he’d vented, and otherwise got along great.

Upside was that I knew he had my back, and he wasn’t shy about turning that fury on problem customers to the point of nearly throwing fists.

I miss that dude - as much as people will think Stockholm syndrome or similar, I’d much rather work with him than the parade of smiling sociopaths I’ve encountered since.
