Trying to get some opinions!

My fiance is playing through the half life series for the first time, and I have never been more excited!

She has already made it to on a rail with half life 1 and then I showed her sven coop. Which now we may be playing together.

I figured hl1 isn’t that big of a deal when it comes to shock and awe. I think that game won’t be ruined by some multiplayer mayhem.

However I was thinking of playing synergy with her as well. From what I can tell the loading screens aren’t as seamless. I’m more worried about difficulty and if having a second player would ruin the immersive experience.

What do you think? Would something like synergy have ruined it for your first time on hl2?

Thank you all for the feedback!

Oh yeah absolutely! When she got to on a rail she asked me if there was any real “in depth story to this one” I just said that its more of the setup for the in depth hl2 storyline. I got the idea to show her sven co op and she thought it was super cool, and would possibly be more fun (not that she wasn’t having a blast already).

I got to thinking about synergy and how that might be a good experience as well. I know loading isn’t as seamless. I have been talking with her about how there is another mod for hl2.

I didn’t want to make it seem like “hey lemme help you” but more so “let’s play this together cause it might be more fun!”. She’s pretty much left it up to me to decide because she doesn’t really know anything about the game. I don’t want to encroach on her experience in any way. The mire I am looking into it, it is making me realize it will be a fundamentally different experience though.

I looked up some footage of water hazard with synergy and I didn’t know it spawns two helicopters. I thought it would just increase the bomb drop rate.

I’m starting to think a synergy playthrough will have to wait until 1 playthrough is completed XD

Also just wanted to see what others think personally
