Arc of Nature

This is a little male ruby-throated hummingbird that I captured at just the right moment, as his tongue arches down towards the branch upon which he perches. I wonder what is happening—perhaps he’s tapping sap directly from the branch, or maybe he’s snatching up a small spider. It’s fascinating, isn’t it? I’ll need to do some Googling to determine what this behavior means. Unfortunately, the lighting isn’t quite right to see the ruby feathers on his throat. Still, I’m completely satisfied with this photo.

You know, the photographs I post here are not as vivid as the same ones in my Pixel’s gallery. This is because I reduce the size and slightly decrease the quality of the photos to make them easier to load.
