FYI: Fennec (aka: the Fdroid version of Firefox without the google play shenannigans) + uBlock Origin works flawlessly. I also use ProtonVPN with Secure Core to a North America Server via Switzerland, and most of the time, Youtube doesn’t block me, and if it does, I just disconnect and reconnect to get a different server.
I know this isn’t an “app” you hoped for, but it’s how I’ve been watching youtube for the past few years.
(Yes, I’m aware of the Andy Yen twitter controversy, I’m keeping an eye on the situation)
oh yeah, i had heard of that, i just didn’t recognize the name. honestly it’s made me consider offboarding from protonmail (only on the free version) since i have aliases on my own domain anyway

Andy Yen controversy? May I ask?
https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/post/35621574
Andy Yen a board member of the Proton Foundation, the non-profit that owns a majority of Proton AG.
Andy Yen is also simultaneously the CEO of Proton AG. Proton AG owns all Proton services, including Protonmail, ProtonVPN, etc…
Andy Yen, via twitter, praised one of trump’s cabinet picks. Which is a very strange thing to say considering what republicans have been doing.
But then he continued and said “republicans stand up for the ‘little guy’”
So yea… very bizzare statements
So because of this, many are saying he’s pro-trump.
But honestly I think he’s just a right-wing Libertarian dumbass that has no clue what he’s talking about.
I’m not gonna rush and move yet, but just keeping an eye on it and thinking about alternatives and preparing… just in case.
