Strikes where we stop working isn’t effective as it used to be, because labor is cheap and keeps getting cheaper with automation.
But a company can’t make money, which means investors can’t make money. If people stop buying.
Cut it down to bare minimum essentials and buy the cheapest most ethical options you can.
We don’t need a general strike. We need to flip the monopoly board by opting opt of capitalism. With their focus on short term profits, it won’t take long for the wealthy to cave.
And anyone that thinks the wealthy haven’t been running out country for decades, must have been living in a cave
Covid reinforced for me that people won’t do collectively good things for intangible social benefit. Strikes are for personal gain, so are more likely to work. Sure, profits are what you want to hit but without workers the profits start to take a hit. What is required is ensuring people don’t break the pocket line and allowing pocket lines and protests. A lot of effort has been put into laws that neuter strike effectiveness.

Scabs being a thing of the past is true, but they used to be protested and vilified, and actually have to cross a picket line.
This. I keep my consumption down to a minimum. Was basically doing that anyway to limit my effect on the planet but now it applies to things that are not even bad for the environment like streaming services. eff them all.
