Keeping a done list everytime I make a to do list. It happen often to me to feel exhausted and guilty because I’m exhausted and gonna rest without having anything of what I’ve planned done. The done list really helps me, I also put things on it that weren’t even in my td list in the first place, like eating in a bad day.

Find an autistic group in your area that regularly meets for activities or creative endeavours.

Even if it’s just once a month, being able to get together and go full mask off is a huge stress relief.

    Positive affirmations.

    • My worth is not decided by financial, material, or societal measures.
    • The world wasn’t built for me, and a lot of my “problems” would disappear in an equitable society.
    • I’ve already crossed off Lawrence’s million dollar wish. That’s gotta count for something.

If ice or police come to your door do not talk to them and don’t let them enter without a warrant or even open the door know your rights.

They will try to gaslight you and manipulate you. Do not fall for it. Never talk to cops.

Yeah, the bullet point lists are nice and all. It’s good to know what your rights are. But those only apply under rule of law. And laws are only words. When those that are supposed to be bound by them no longer have those boundaries enforced, shit goes sour real fast.

Cats are much easier to understand than humans, so always keep a cat around for mental health! Only a little bit of a joke, cats do help mental health though.

In order to do cooking and baking when I hate having stuff on my hands, I make sure that the sink is empty and we have paper towels on the roll. That way I can stop at anytime and wash if I need to. Usually just knowing it’s there is enough to get me through until the end.

The amount of time anyone else spends thinking about you or anything you do or say is essentially zero.

    Be free.

I have a hard time with brushing my teeth because of an extremely sensitive gag reflex. Two things that have helped me.

The first is an electric toothbrush. I don’t have to move it vigorously as a regular toothbrush. Plus it has a little timer to let me know when to switch from top, bottom, front, back.

The second is something pleasing to look at that is easily in my line of sight while brushing my teeth. We have a tissue box that has birds and flowers and butterflys on it. This helps keep me grounded instead of something that might trigger me like the sink drain.

Oh yes electric toothbrush does make all the difference!! I often read magazines when brushing my teeth to pass the time faster. And for flossing I have both flossing string and those toothpick-like brushy things so I can use different products to keep it less boring.

Pleasant lights make all the difference. We use adjustable bulbs that allow changing of tone and brightness, bulbs also need to be good quality to not have that fast flickering effect (if you wave your hand close to a cheap flickering bulb it looks like low fps rather than smooth movement).

If you wear ear plugs often you may look into getting a set of high fidelity ear plugs. There are several brands, I have a pair of Earasers and there’s another brand called Eargasm as well. They are as effective as disposable ear plugs, but they don’t sound as muffled. Basically it reduces the overall decibel level but everything sounds almost normal.
