The canal authority, an autonomous agency overseen by the Panamanian government, said in a statement that it had not made any changes to charge fees or rights to cross the canal, adding its statement was directly in response to the U.S. claims. The U.S. State Department had said earlier in the day that Panama’s government had agreed to no longer charge crossing fees for U.S. government vessels, in a move that would save the U.S. millions of dollars a year.

    Panama should not fall into the familiar trap of dignifying it with a response.

    Because then it becomes a debate . This is a Musk tactic and the one he used to go from a failed physic/ student, poor coder and bad manager to being regarded as :

    • a great inventor of electric cars
    • an astrophysicist and space traveller
    • an AI expert
    • a political leader

    Every major news outlet on the planet the the BBC downwards, has opined as to his expertise in these matters, when he should even be in the conversation.

    When it’s been a debate for a bit, it will become a negotiation.

    When it becomes a negotiation, you already lost, because you will be pressured to concede something. Like a used car salesman, Trump has already anchored you the idea of American priority.

    If you concede America priority on Tuesdays been 3pm and 6pm, to appease him. You’ve still given up something you did not need to give .

    Knowing the brilliance of Trump, I wouldn’t put it past him to order the Navy to sink any ship that enters the canal before a US Navy ship.
