This technology is projected to be quite expensive as bit-patterned disks must be physically patterned using lithography or etching equipment in cleanrooms.
Conventional HDD are less expensive because they do not require lithography on the platters.
But with this new technology that would change. So there wouldn’t be a price advantage, this is to say 100 terabytes would cost as much as if it was SSDs, i.m.o.
