Saw an interesting conversation today on how we view Chrono Trigger and Dragon Quest III as landmark titles of the genre even decades later.
Do you think these will remain classics down the line? Are there other current games you think will endure? Maybe the genre will look even more like mobile gaming? Or stay the same?
I didn’t play it that much, but I definitely think Octopath Traveler will be looked back at favorably for its “revolutionary” art style (which is just what games like Grandia tried to do but without shaders). It was pretty influential for the market, spawning many games with a similar style.
