Looks like some interesting changes! Mount speed and the zone names are two I’m looking forward to. I know most of the zones now, but there are some I still struggle with finding. The disguises being added as outfits are going to be fun too, I liked some of them pretty well.

For me it’s usually one of the really small zones, or one of the places off the continent!

Have you taken breaks over the years, or have you played fairly regularly since it came out?

I was a launch PC player, and hated playing it on M+KB. Controller support wasn’t native and the add-ons for it were…lackluster to say the least. So I account-transferred to Xbox when it was available. I hit VR16 (old max) before the switch to Champion Points, but I was one of the later of my friends to do so, and I never “maxed” CP under the old system until 810 was the max (or if I did, it was only for a week or 2 prior to cap increase). Then, in maybe 2018, was when I really started playing. I was on/off playing prior to that. I was/am a Cyro main though, so it kinda ebbed/flowed with friends as they played. In 2020 I started doing PvE, and getting characters/parsing setup for trials. I did up-to hard mode trials and Cyro in one of the higher tier ballgroups from maybe late 2021 until 2024, when I started to pull back a bit. I still play regularly, just not as long. Currently I don’t do PvE really, except farming gear or the odd drunken trial, and I do ballgroup 1x/week. But a lot of us are moving to PC, so it’s more PvE and farming activities right now.

Checking Xbox, I have almost 7k hours, and I have maybe another 150 on PC? But I didn’t use Steam until recently and I haven’t done an hours check on my main character. Good bit of that Xbox time is AFK or queue times as well during double AP or getting kicked from Cyro, but I’d say no more than 200 hours lol

That’s an impressive number of hours! I’ve never been that dedicated to any one game to this point, but I can see how MMOs could get you to stack that many hours. With every game I’ve played so far there’s always a point where it loses its magic, so I give it a break for a while and maybe come back to it in the future. There’s a few games that I’ve repeated that cycle with for quite a few years. I’m hoping ESO will continue to stay fun, I guess I’ll see!

I’ve never played MMOs much, but I can see how the social aspect is very important. I found a social guild that runs casual PVE and PVP events, and that makes things a lot more enjoyable.

That’s definitely the way; I’ve had a few people I’ve played with basically since console launch. The larger group has changed, but a few of us have stayed the whole time. If it weren’t for them, I probably wouldn’t play much. I could be playing checkers for all I care, as long as it’s fun. The last comped ball group I played with, we’d be crying laughing, kiting the zerg around the top of the keep cause someone said some dumb shit or someone’s voice cracked during a call out and we’re ragging on them lol. Legitimate wheezing laughter.

Yeah, having fun is the important part! I still play mostly solo, but I’ve been enjoying some of the group content when I’m feeling up for it. I’m hoping to get a bit better at the game and do it more in the future.

I highly recommend a social guild. The one I am in on Xbox was always trials focus, but was a starting-to-mid tier raiding guild. It started out with training runs, and then progressed to gear farming, the hard modes. One of the main “cores” has been running for like 3 years now we (not on it anymore) went from literally doing vHoF to now they’re doing XS, which is one of the hardest perfectas in the game. Largely the same people, at least half have been on the team for most the clears.

If the one you join is too big or you feel too lost amongst the numbers, just join more. You’ll find a place.
