The V is obviously capitalized though. I hate this image. It kinda makes sense but I want to read it left to right as English expects, and the V just reinforces that.

You should read it top left to bottom right as English expects.

Imagine a paragraph with an indention and the third line down starting with a capital letter. Would you start with the capital letter line first before the undented top line?

But if you read it top to bottom, the V being capitalized signifies that it’s the beginning, as it’s not a proper noun. you would never Expect something like this to happen; and certainly not one where it’s the divided up and essentially right-alighted.

Even if you read top to bottom, the V fucks it all up. This is a bad image. Mirror the rainbow, capitalize properly, and it’s much better.

This is my explanation why the layout works as intended and right aligned was an intentional and logical choice. I also think the capital V works against it, but for a different reason than where the sentence starts.

Having the rainbow in the top left area sets the reader up to start by thinking of rainbows, which makes the punchline hit a little harder. The capital V is probably there to add stress to the word and fill in the white space, plus it has the curl that works well with the layout. But that is only necessary visually because of the shitty font they chose, and it stands out as a sore thumb in the middle of the sentence even if they had started it with a capital letter. But if they used thenlower case v the word voted would look really weird.

If they used a different font and left it all lower case it would be perfect.
