Google is notifying Gmail users that the webmail's Basic HTML view will be deprecated in January 2024, and users will require modern browsers to continue using the service.
“some users claim that Basic HTML gave disabled users – including the visually impaired – an easy and accessible way to hear their emails chronologically.”
I know this is really niche but basic HTML webpages can be accessed from a terminal using W3M or similar software. Gmail included. It was nice while it lasted.
While this may not be a big deal to some, for people with vision difficulties this can be a huge stumbling block.
