TLDR: NewPipe 0.27.6 fixes the YouTube issues by performing the integrity checks now required by Google; NewPipe is being refactored heavily on the refactor branch and you can help and provide feedback on a nightly version; NewPipe will soon have a new completely rewritten player; the NewPipe team is struggling to keep up with the project’s demands due to dwindling free time of its members.

Ha, I was thinking the same but we are probably the minority.
I can fill a day with testing graphic settings or tweaking my ram oc, dont tempt me with a good time of figuring out what stuff does.
Back in Cyanogen mod days I softbricked my phone because I was too curious. There was this huge list with services/apps and their permissions and I was like “yooo gotta try denying as much as I can”. Turns out system apps need permissions so the system can work. Oh well
