It’s wild to me that shit like that can be allowed on major networks despite its detrimental effects on the population. I wonder if there’s language to regulate blatant disinformation that doesn’t restrict other freedoms.
The Fairness Doctrine, or at least the removal for it, is the main reason why we have shit like Fox News. Conservatives aimed to remove it after Watergate because they realized that the reason Nixon was close to being impeached was not because he did something bad, but because the majority of the nation believed the facts.
There was no question whether Nixon sent people to the hotel. There was no question as to what happened.
There was a shared understand of the facts.
Conservatives decided that they can’t have that and Reagan got rid of it.
The antidote is removing Fox News and OAN from cable listings.
