I am playing Final Fantasy VII for the first time. Yes, I’m very late to the party. Managed to snag a copy for PSX and I’m playing it on a CRT to get the OG experience. So far I am loving it and beginning to understand the hype.
Interesting! I played it for the first time recently and think it didn’t really hold up in the slightest. I could understand why at the time it excelled, but playing it now was a chore for me. What’s it doing for you that is really grabbing you?
I think the setting is unique and thought provoking, especially with today’s political landscape. I enjoy that the line between good and evil is so grey between the overbearing and abusive mega corporation and the eco-terrorists that we play as. The characters are also incredibly endearing, especially Barrett - a big, scary, passionate man who loves his family and will absolutely destroy a motherfucker on a whim.
I play a lot of older games so the graphics don’t bother me at all, and turn-based is definitely my preference. It looks stunning on my CRT TV.

That’s awesome! How far in are you?
Only a couple hours in, still on the first disk. I keep exploring the city and getting distracted lol
