Hi. I’m new here after becoming completely frustrated with Reddit.

I’m looking to share artwork for stickers and flyers of a political nature, and would like to find find good communities for that.

My questions are; are there more communities than the ones listed in the “Communities” tab/link at the top of the page and is there a community devoted to noob questions?

    For political content, be aware of the instance you are posting in. Lemmy.world is pretty good, but will often remove any posts about political violence, including guillotines and “Luigi” content. Lemmy.ml will remove content that is critical of communism, including Russia and CCP.

    Politicalmemes could be a general place, but you’re most likely better off posting your artwork in communities oriented specifically towards the political position your artwork is for.

    I find that the best way of discover communities is to browse “all” and sort by 6 hour best. Do this a few times over a few days and you’ll probably find communities that are suitable.

    I’m happy to field your questions at [email protected]

    For not specifically newbie questions but stuff you might feel silly asking on AskLemmy, you can go to [email protected]

    For where to share your art: [email protected]

    For where to share your political flyers: [email protected] or [email protected] if they are anything like a meme. [email protected] is more loose in types of content allowed so your political art (if US related) might be able to be posted there.

    The default view for communities is Local, which will only show communities on your instance. Given you’re on lemmy.world, that’s a considerable number, but if you click ‘All’ at the top of the communities page, you’ll also see communities outside of your instance (but again only ones that your instance knows about, which amounts to any that someone from your instance has subscribed to). Again, you’re on LW, so this is a significant percentage.

    If this is a niche that doesn’t exist currently (or you can’t find a place for it), you could create such a community.

    @NachoCheesmo

    Pixelfed might be more up your alley as it’s a more insta like experience…but there are many pictures and political meme communities out this way.

    Other commenters have given great info so far. I’ll tack on that the community discovery within the Lemmy web UI is terrible. If you want to dig for communities other than gets suggested here, the Communities tab on Lemmy Explorer is much better.

    “Sharing artwork” or “offering your stickers for sale?” The former is fine, but the latter is likely to get you banned for spamming.
