Lemmy noob here, have only had an account for a few days and been using Connect for even less. I’ve noticed that on desktop, GIFs that are linked in a post (Whether in the body or the URL section) can be watched without opening a new tab or leaving the page. So far, this does not seem to be the case on mobile, no matter the application (I’ve used Jerboa, Connect, and one other I already forget). Is this a matter of instance implementation, or application/site? And do sites need to be “whitelisted”, or can any URL that leads to a GIF work?

This is a huge feature for me, and one of the biggest reasons I’m waiting on Boost for Lemmy

With that said, Connect is by far my favorite mobile app for Lemmy.
