Nintendon’t.
Anyway, do you agree?
Disagree. The article is essentially about what they don’t like about base F-Zero. Personally? I’m 22 so I only played it on emulators, but SNES F-Zero is one of my favorite racing games and OG SNES Mario Kart is total ass. It sounds like this person just wanted Mario Kart 99, but I think that’d be way too much going on to be fun with 99 other people. This is disliking something over expectations for something that doesn’t exist, and I don’t think the expectations for Mario Kart 99 are even worth meeting. Can you imagine how annoying 100 people having power ups at once would be?
If you like F-Zero, you’ll love F-Zero 99. If you don’t like F-Zero, play one of the hundreds of arcade racing games that has had online multiplayer built in or modded in for the past 20 years.
I feel like they could’ve done more though…
Like what?
3D graphics, maybe? A new game entirely?
I mean yeah, I also want a new F Zero, and also cynical towards the battle royale remake trend. But the article is about how they should have done the same with with an old Mario Kart game. You’re not interacting with the text that you posted. Saying you want a different game is not a valid criticism of a game.
Plus, would 3D make having all 100 cars on track better, or would it just make the netcode shit out and be visually harder to understand? 100 cars on a stage is harder to make playable than just throwing 100 cars on a track. Any of the 3D F-Zero games would border on unplayable if we just threw 100 cars on the track.
Oh fine, you have my apologies.
Sounds like the writer just doesn’t like Fzero and won’t say it, hasn’t the health/boost mechanic always been the selling point? It sounds hilariously zoomer to complain “I hit the go fast button and explode, why can’t I go fast always, game?” The attention span problem is getting out of hand.
I’m a zoomer that considers F-Zero the best pre-3d racing games. Mario Kart on the SNES borders on unplayable to me. This guy is just mad that he didn’t get Mario Kart 99, even though that is a terrible idea. 100 people with items on Nintendo netcode? Okay then
If Nintendo actually made Mario Kart 99, the article’s writer would still be complaining because it’d probably be based on MK SNES lol
As he should, SNES Mario Kart is ass
I hate it when people bring up “attention span” like you just did. And it’s not just zoomers.
Ah well…
This might sound stupid but anything Vinny Vinesauce or Northernlion plays more than once might be fun to play. At least that is true with me. This person just does not like F-Zero.
Fair enough.
I thought the article might be good for discussion.
It is good for discussion! I did not make my comment to discourage you or anything. I hope I did not come across like that?
No, you’re good!
It’s pretty cool. Unfortunately, I don’t think they’ll make a new F-Zero game and interest in this will probably drop off in the near future. This reviewer seems too hung up about it not being Mario Kart that I think he’s just not too into racing games.
Same. I think interest in it will just decline after this.
That kind of focus on more conservative, thoughtful play can work in a racing game like Gran Turismo, which is as much about the strategy of racing as actual reflexes. But unless we’re missing something massive, the gameplay in F-Zero 99 simply isn’t anywhere deep enough to support that kind of mental engagement.
Yeah, I have to agree here. SNES F-Zero is a really shallow game.
Interesting…
