This set is not the cheapest brick set you can get and is not FIDE approved, but I got it because I wanted vintage (resists moisture even after 80 years) and wanted a set that still feels valuable. A Sayer & Fisher (omg a chess reference) Company’s initials engraved on the bricks was a plus.
Overall I like the set, most astonishing is that when I invite my friends to play chess and they decline en passant, thinking that I do not own a brick, I get to flex with my sick ass collection of antique and vintage 4.5 lbs bricks. Of course it’s not the experience of a standard FIDE approved brick, but the sound of brick falling and the feel of 80+ years of history of American brick manufacturing on pipi is one of a kind.
Holy legacy post!
