The rainforest holds a fifth of the world’s fresh water, but deforestation, dwindling rain and unrelenting heat are sucking it dry.

For context, there’s a tipping point, which we are close to, beyond which deforestation of the Amazon changes the local climate to dry, killing the rest of the forest
