This French ‘bayonet’ has a second function, it also is a full size saber. It was mostly used by guards, upon the direct orders of Emperor Louis Napoleon III.
I’d argue it’s a spear. In an open space, spear > sword.
Only in an organized formation. Which is likely how this would have been used.
Nothing like a “stab-you-from-across-the-room” bayonet ❤️
It also carries a very strong “It’s not a competition, because you can’t compete” energy.

So it fires the sword as a projectile? That would be bad ass.
