Eh, nowadays, every time I see some headline about a “working class” dude doing well in some po-dunk state election I just assume they’re either gonna turn out to be a grifter who be really pro-Israel or something six months into office.

Democrats are considering backing Dan Osborn in his challenge against Republican Sen. Deb Fischer.

    Oh so he’s a lib.

Also looks like he’s a term limits guy lmao. “Yes I think there are major changes needed, but I also want to limit anyone’s ability to make those changes to 2 terms.”

Term Limits are great for The Parties. As running, building an org is hard/takes time, but term limits mean they just slot in the face at the top.

Longer terms with no limits but easier recalls would be better. As less time campaigning, but the ability to remove horrible people.

Less campaigning means less need for big money.

        this

I’m amazed both parties aren’t pushing hard for term limits. I guess the elder reptilians at the top really just want to rot in Congress instead of getting a cushy consulting job after they hit the limit.

Instead of term limits we should be able to vote once a month on whether or not to throw out our current senators/rep at state and federal levels. If they get a vote of no confidence they’re barred from running for at least a year.

Like a hater threshold vote ? As I’d hate to have say “I don’t want to get rid of someone I’m neutral on” every month.

But it would give the most annoying people something to do every month.

This is assuming mail-in voting or even voting from your phone so it wouldn’t be like the normal hassle. Basically, if the approval rating drops below 50%, they’re out. Just thinking of ways to force politicians to do what their constituents actually want but this is America so that’ll never happen lol

            We need ranked choice too.

I’d also set the approval count to be “more than the total of votes for them”

As setting it as a percentage is hard. Mostly because it means people have to defend the elected official ALL THE TIME.
