They’re proud of their ability to endure the shittiest experiences. That’s what it’s about. So what everyone else would see as stupid as fudge, the Marines will be proud of being able to endure it.

Sounds pretty accurate actually. I got told to spit my gum out while I was deployed in a desert. We can’t have nice things. Why does my “professionalism” matter when I’m in a desert filling sandbags?
