My phone is face down most of the time if it’s sitting on a table. This turns on silent.
I’d honestly be too afraid of scratches to turn it face down, the new Gorilla Glass sucks (too soft, just to make it slightly less likely to shatter). Of course if you have a case with a lip it’s alright.
Besides that, my phone is always on silent (vibrate), no clue how someone can run around with loud ringtone and notification sounds and annoy everyone in the vicinity.
Often I just need to glance at my phone for the time or check a quick message, no need to pick it up at all for that.
