I wonder if this affects North American models. The IIHS has the Toyota Prius listed as Top Safety Pick+, and I wonder if those test results were tampered with.

We’re talking about vehicles that aren’t sold in North America and safety tests that they were self reporting. North American testing is independent from the manufacturers.
Almost certainly.
No Daihatsu model is or was sold in North America under Toyota branding or otherwise. All models sold in North America with a Daihatsu equivalent were manufactured by Toyota with a Daihatsu branding.
They’re talking about models sold in some Asian markets.
Some models were sold under Toyota brand, according to their own post. That doesn’t mean they were sold in North America, but also doesn’t exclude it. See https://www.daihatsu.com/news/2023/20231220-4.html
They weren’t, can we stop stressing people out for no reason?
If you have a definitive statement from official sources that they weren’t that would be great. So far you are asking everyone to take your word for it and that is just not enough.
Check the Toyota models sold in North America and the models actually produced by Daihatsu, lists are easy to find on Wikipedia and there’s very few Toyota cars small enough to fit what Daihatsu produce themselves, the Tercel, Echo and Yaris are the only ones and they were all manufactured by Toyota (or Mazda for the last gen of the Yaris in North America). For Scion the iQ would have been the only one small enough and will you look at that, manufactured by Toyota themselves.
That’s not even considering the part where safety tests are done independently from the manufacturers in North America.
So please, can we stop scaring people for no reason?
I’m sure their intentional corruption is completely isolated and in no way influenced or requested from their parent company. Yes, that must be it.
Ok, North American testing is done independently from manufacturers.
You’re feeling better now?
Daihatsu… you had one job
