The Pentagon made the announcement as a British ship was reportedly hit by rocket fire in Red Sea off Yemen coast. Drone activity has also been reported in the area which separates East Africa from the Arabian Peninsula.
The US is spending between 50x and 3000x as much on shooting down drones as they cost to make, depending on the munition. The Houthis don’t need to completely deplete them to still make it horrendously expensive and cost ineffective for the US.
Drones are cheaper to deploy than the AA munitions used against them.
But can the Houthi forces afford to replace them? I don’t doubt the US’ ability to make more anti aircraft munitions.
Don’t know, but with the recent spats happening fairly regularly, they’re gonna behave as if they can afford to replace them.
