Welcome to today’s daily kōrero!

Anyone can make the thread, first in first served. If you are here on a day and there’s no daily thread, feel free to create it!

Anyway, it’s just a chance to talk about your day, what you have planned, what you have done, etc.

So, how’s it going?

Failing that there is a good has strut replacement place in Auckland too.

Enjoy that no kids thing! The break without them every now and again is so essential. We only manage one or two weekends a year with four of the blighters.

Last year was the first time we had a night with no kids since the eldest was born (so 6 years). A week will feel very strange!

We’re at 8 years and counting without more than a night kid-free/parents only. I think she had one sleep over a year or so ago. She has her first school camp this year, but now we have the 1 year old… feels like it might never happen again! We don’t have any family nearby to leave them with either.

        Hope you enjoy it!

Yeah same issue here, no family particularly close. Plus, leaving three young kids with someone almost feels mean!

We are leaving them with the nearest grandparents, about 3 hours drive away, after they had some practice looking after them for a night on a couple of occasions last year.

Two of them have spent longer times with grandparents, but 3 is definitely much harder than two (especially for a single adult). Two kids (any two) of our kids can play together but add in the third one and you get arguments. Plus you only have two hands for crossing the road, two knees for sitting on, two sides when you’re reading a book, and so on.

Oh man, three kids is too much for me, I drew the line at two. I can’t imagine it doing it. I feel like I’m already struggling with our second, she’s so different personality-wise. I think you guys deserve your week!

Hope the grandparents can cope, or just spoil them so they don’t complain too much 😆

Haha since starting school we’ve had a kid or two go to grandparents for a few days each holidays. It makes a huge difference even having just one less, though we pay for it when they come back with a messed up routine and full of sugar!
