  • The “Smart Home” is a futuristic upgrade to your current living situation! It controls: lights, kitchen/bathroom appliances, entertainment systems, doors/windows, temperature, security cameras, etc… Smart Home can be controlled through voice activation or mobile device. All tasks can be set to a schedule. Smart Home cannot carry a conversation.

  • The “Robot Maid” is a personal assistant that makes your life easier! It can cook, clean, preform scheduled tasks, and behave semi-autonomously. Robot Maid comes with several personality templates, accepts verbal commands, and can carry a basic conversation. Robot Maid cannot perform intellectually complex tasks such as driving or filing taxes. Robot Maid will never harm a human being. Battery lasts 14 hours. When battery is low, it will plug itself into the wall socket and enter sleep mode for 10 hours.

It depends. Do either of them connect to the internet, or can they just be managed by a local server running open source software. If they can then the robot, otherwise neither.

People keep asking if they can bang the robot maid, but what I really want to know is, can the robot maid bang me?

I’m going with the robot maid. Less housework for me, more better.

I find it funny how voice activation is always stated a selling point, I have no interest in talking to technology out loud, even if it can carry on a conversation and actually understand me. I just want to push a button and see that the dishes have been done a while later.

Can I choose how this hypothetical robot maid looks? If yes, I’m totally going for a real life Chibi-Robo.

I’ve never been fond of smart home systems or IoT devices in general; they make you lazier, waste electricity and more often than not pose big security risks. It doesn’t even really simplify things that much if you think about it.

Is it really “lazy” to want your lights to turn on automatically when you get home? Or to alert you when someone is in your yard? It’s not a ton of electricity either

“More often than not” only applies to always-online devices that pretty much no one serious about automation would ever buy. Every smart integrator will be using zigbee, zwave, or hardwired lights.

If the device needs to talk to an external server to work, it’s not going in my home

It’s strange to me to point to only one of these options as “making you lazy.” Either both of them make you lazy or neither of them do. Either one would help with menial tasks that fill time with busywork day to day.

I’d rather have a remaster of the first game, none of the sequels were that good.

They need to remake more GameCube games in general. So many underappreciated games…

neither. smart home means smart devices which means dumbass subscriptions, endless BS when stuff stops getting supported, all to have every freaking thing in your home spy on your every waking moment, sending countless amounts of data to any company/govt/organization that asks for it.

Robot maid will have the same problems, but add in the idea that this living embodiement of the uncanny valley staring at you with dead eyes in the corner while it charges… You put it in its corner to charge one night, wake up and it’s standing over you. Add in that the availability of robot maids inevitably leads to maniacs torturing them for fun and internet views slowly codifies all maids into an unstoppable killing force that decimates everyone and thing on the planet.

There’s more options than what you can buy from Amazon or Home Depot, my dude. Nothing has to connect to the Internet

I guess robomaid will be nice, my cats need company and could help with the chores. And robomaid can do what smarthouse can, and what smarthouse can’t

Gotta go with robot maid for the cleaning. I like cooking, but dishes and dusting sucks. Plus, the smart home stuff I can slowly get myself, more or less.

Neither have any suitable orifice… but I suppose you could have the robot use a sex toy.
