Things changing right now too since people are moving in from Twitter so more good accounts may pop up…

External trackers… so that sounds like they literally just use it as a display that has no idea how your head is oriented or moves. All that has to be added through other hardware. Which makes sense since that probably is one of the most challenging things to implement for this, still a very long way to go for anything actually usable if it even happens.
Thanks, this was quite informative as to what the state of things are on the Windows side.
That said, I highly dislike the idea of undermining Valve’s efforts to get PC gaming less dependent on Windows so certainly will not be using any of this.
@sab @selfhosted @mike Do you know if there is a way to make it a link post from masto or is that also just a limitation for microblogs? It seems like attaching media is at least possible.
@Los Grabbed CC3, SMAC, X-COM: Apocalypse and Incoming. I tend to like Gog for the retro games still. Going to wait for Steam sale for more. Steam deck has definitely caused me to prefer steam a little bit more even though I do play games from other stores with Lutris/Heroic on it.
@mike That is interesting, I was curious about whether it is possible to post to lemmy from mastodon… Seems like part of your message ended up becoming the title so I wonder if there is a way to format the message in a way that won’t look out of place on lemmy
@kadu @Fubarberry FWIW the author of cryoutilities has done benchmarks and figured that increasing the default on the Deck does improve performance in some games slightly. He claims that introducing the swapfile also mitigates any potential disadvantages.
If that is such a great idea why is Quest doing so extremely well compared to PCVR right now?
I think the issue is more that we need both. There will not be any incentive for anyone to make any VR software if there are not users and clearly even the current VR headsets are of interest to enough people that you can build a market if you have a price they can afford.
Meta exclusively focusing on Quest and dropping Rift completely was what really was bad for VR.
It’s just the term used in some countries like Germany for FPS.
Haha, well maybe a bit heretical considering this declares itself to be the successor to steamdeck_linux and not even just steamdeck. Guess I wouldn’t worry about it too much though.
