I saw their set at Burning man.
I saw their set at Burning man.
Michigan has a very large Muslim community, there are about 3 times more people practicing Islam than Judaism there. I think at one point Dearborn had the largest Muslim population in the country. She probably doesn’t want to go to far in either direction.
Astroturfing or advertising. They can generate a bunch of medium to high karma accounts with genuine looking post history, then sign a deal with an advertising firm or lobby group to make posts on their behalf. They’ll steal a bunch of posts like OP’s then start posting stuff like “Biden is actually the most progressive president” and fill the comment section with some propaganda. This site sells a range of services.
My lib buddy was saying he doesn’t give a shit about the entertainment strikes because they don’t really work hard or create anything necessary to live, but he supports the autoworkers because they actually make things that people use everyday. I had to point out that he doesn’t own a car and watches hours of TV everyday, so in reality the writers/actors provide much more to his life than the autoworkers do.
A few years back i got pissed off about how many subscription streaming services were popping up so I went fully back to torrenting. I forgot my Mom was using some of my streaming logins and felt bad that I cut her off unexpectedly. I’m on the other side of the country from her and she’s not so good with technology so I couldn’t just send her files. I ended up just building a Plex server and mailed her a Roku with it all set up out of the box. Its worked great and I can share anything with my friends and family without them having to actually download anything.
Over the pandemic I bought a VR headset, which honestly sucks for nearly everything. There’s a “movie theater” app though that allows you to stream your desktop to a room of 12 people. My friends and I were watching movies “together” while we were all locked down. Its the only way I’ve ever enjoyed a 3d film because the effect is perfect from any viewing angle.
I sent this to my libertarian-turned-lib friend and he immediately said, “Oh he must have been Ukranian Resistance after the war.” But they said he fought in WWII. “Oh well it was late in the war and he didn’t get convicted of any war crimes.” Libs refuse to believe that any Ukrainian can do wrong throughout history now. Canada is apologizing profusely today because they “didn’t know the guy was a Nazi.”
I used to wear this shirt around, some people yelled at me up at the Gorge Amphitheater. They said it was like wearing a Hitler shirt in public.
Woke up this morning, got yourself a bribe
I dunno how if this trick works in other airports, but at Portland’s airport you can fill your hydroflask with beer at the bars inside the terminal. PDX has anti price gouging rules too, so the business’s can’t sell things for more than $1 over their menu prices outside of the airport.
I’ve seen a video of an old VW Beetle that was converted to electric, it still had a stick shift but the guy just left it in like 3rd gear. Electric engines have instant torque, their power is readily available all the time so gears aren’t necessary (i think that’s how it works anyway)
The Xiaomi 13 is awesome. I would gladly take one over an iPhone.
I use Xiaomi’s LED lightbulbs in my apartment. They’re equal build quality to the Phillips-Hue bulbs but less than 1/4th the price. The Xiaomi bulbs are also far more compatible with third party apps, including the hue app.
Originally it was a space for artists. It was a music festival that didn’t provide any music, musicians just showed up and performed so you would never know what you were going to see. Attendees were expected to literally be part of the event. Buying things, from food to drugs, was discouraged. You were supposed to just barter or provide for the community.
Obviously all that is out the window now. Its just a big wealthy orgy waiting to see Diplo.
Yeah Portland, Oregon is probably going to be wiped off the map at some point. They’re predicting a 9.0+ quake here at some point at there’s barely any seismically sound infrastructure.
I hate this new found nostalgia for Blockbuster. They were always the worst choice of video rentals, the company was funded by right wing interests and would censor films to appease them. They got ran out of my hometown after operating for like 4 years and Family Video expanded into all the former locations. FV was able to operate up until the pandemic because they actually integrated into the communities they were in. Ours one was selling CBD weed and had their own brewery in the end.
One of my lib friends is super against communism and his favorite show is Deep Space 9. He accidentally got an Engles quote tattooed on his arm because of the show. He thinks the episode “Past Tense” is a warning about why we shouldn’t build housing for poor people.
George Lucas almost directed Apocalypse Now during the Vietnam war. John Milius wanted to film on location in South Vietnam.
There is definitely a correlation with people who like the prequels (just the movies I haven’t watched the cartoons) and people who are drawn fascist ideology. I’m not sure if its because r/prequelmemes was frequented by fascists and it bled over, or if those are people who just like shitty media. Prequelmemes had its roots in Red Letter Media’s Mr Plinkett reviews of the films. Almost all the original posts were aping quotes from their videos, but they were soon drowned out by people who thought they were in good company.
I’ve got a utility that will activate it for 6 months. Its called “KMSPICO,” looks like there are a lot of download options out there, just be careful where you get it from.
