Way to get the “X” and the cat’s eyes in focus. Tough with that shallow DOF!

I’m in my 40s… similar to you, used to eat fast food often, and enjoyed it. I was having a horrible day a couple weeks ago, and thought “fuck it… I’m eating at McDs.” It was disgusting, not like I remembered it all.
Agreed, great answer. As a fellow parent, I know that connection with your kid is far more important than whatever “dignity” you’ll “lose” from going on the trip.
He’s probably old enough (only you know, OP) for you to even talk about your discomfort with going, and to be open about your personal pros+cons of going. Who knows what he’ll say, but it sounds like a good conversation to have.
Ha, yeah, that’s a good point! It was pretty thiccc/dense.
yeah, np! This is the video I used to make my pick. This guy compares a couple of passages in a bunch of different translations. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLn_wmedmT0 good luck!
omg it’s the worst. When I’m not in a great mood, I flash my brights at said tall-ass pickup trucks. Probably gonna get shot one day.
I’d be like “FUCK! I just mulched all mine this weekend!!!”
I’ve been paying for Tuta for a couple years, and like it. I have my gmail forward to it just in case, but these days have basically completely switched, and barely ever get any legit emails forwarded from my gmail anymore.
Ooh, I liked Eyes of the Dragon. Enjoy!
I just finished Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy, and just started Fagles’ translation of Homer’s Odyssey. Chapter 1 was surprisingly engaging and follow-able… I was prepared to feel lost, as I haven’t done “classics” like this before. But then, I did do a fair bit of research on which translation to pick, and this one did stand out as readable, so maybe I shouldn’t be too surprised.
it’s sex-object-oriented programming (SOOP)
:'( I feel ya.
Nobody fucks with the Jesus.
Obviously, you’re not a golfer.
Ooh that’s cool looking. Thanks! Definitely will keep an eye out for it when the time comes.
I have a OnePlus 8. I’ve had it for what feels like a while now… 3 years if I had to guess? Can’t remember honestly. But the battery life kicks ass, and it charges really quickly with the “warp” charger.
I only do a little bit of customization… I switched from Nova Prime to Kvaesitso recently and am liking it… but have never rooted or changed OS. The camera leaves a little to be desired, but that’s ok, I have a real camera for when I need to do that.
I probably won’t look for another phone until this one gets bogged down or otherwise broken, and when I do, I usually just see what my carrier has that isn’t super expensive. I generally avoid iPhones, and I prefer to stay away from Google as much as reasonably possible (I know I just installed their phone app, I know, I know) so I haven’t really considered a Pixel. But my arm could be twisted… I dunno.
I haven’t heard of Nothing!
Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy. The prose is beautiful and mesmerizing. It forces me to read it at the speed of speech, to let it flow. I’m a sucker for long and winding sentences (when they’re done well), and this doesn’t disappoint.
It’s also quite disgusting, just as everyone says about it. If you can’t handle brutal senseless violence, don’t pick this up. It’s pretty interesting to see the racism/xenophobia of today reflected in American history (1850-ish). It reminds me of the Dark Forest theory from Three Body Problem: these guys go around killing not just out of a love of violence, but because it’s the only guaranteed way to come out on top. If you aren’t the killer, someone else will be. Capitalism and greed work like this too.
Ah, I set the Witcher books down halfway through but gotta get back to them! Glad to hear you’re enjoying them. At least they’re mostly short-ish.
nice, thanks. I have a OnePlus phone so the Google Phone app wasn’t installed on it by default. But I just installed it… hopefully fewer robocalls from now on.
Yeah I remember that one too! All kinds of stuff like standing up, twirling around three times and shouting… Most of the class was racing through it as fast as they could. 5th grade I believe…
nice!
