  • These are private companies that are govern and controlled by commercial incentives. And are in their all right to do so. The users are always free to change service.

But as always, conviniance beats everything. Most people don’t care or are not ready to go back. E.g. use mp3s and manually upload files to choosen device or if even supported. aux contact that was removed. Music and movie resolution loss due to streaming most people don’t care… They are frustrated when the airpod doesn’t work with Android device accept the situation and go along with their lives. Most western people download their games and do not think for a second that all games are useless when an new device is announced and the company can resell same game again even thought if thought from design to be back compatible.

Censorship are applicable for governments enforcing laws and regulations that impact what you are allowed to do or say which in many parts of the world unconstitutional. If people even put an ounce of energy to complain on their governmentns that they do on companies we would live in a better world.

  • Without detailed knowledge about tree logging, that looks to be too clean cut, when working in a storm.

    From the article:

“Locals said they heard nothing during the night due to high winds from Storm Agnes – and woke to find the tree split from its stump.”

I would not call that a “split”.

You also need some heavy gear to fell that kind of tree, the dia of sycamore tree trunk is wide. The blade would stuck in the saw line due to the inclination of the tree. Also you would need a vehicle to get all gear there plus extra fuel if required.

Think middle of night, during a storm, also you don’t need a storm to be windy there.

    Really 16 year old only?

  • I use Firefox as main browser, but I discovered for my use case google provides the best results without needing to setup every workstation e.g. 2 home PCs, 1 mobile, 2 for work. And that I need to use all main 3 browsers. Also google provide good service with functions to quickly make currency conversions, simple math ekvations etc which even Bing is far behind.

“AI” services will change this but for now it’s too slow.

But in general for me, I have given up that fact to try stay private many years back, it’s all a dream just like living off grid, 99% of would not survive 4 days.

But the information can be scrambled, ie shift user accounts, services, software etc. It would also provide better competition due to the userbase is moving around… But most of us are too lazy or afraid to lose history, backups, photos etc. Just see how many that can’t just delete an old reddit account due to the time spent to reach an level you aren’t ready to leave. To lead to famous qoute I follow online

“Don’t let yourself get attached to anything you are not willing to walk out on in 30 seconds flat if you feel the heat around the corner”

Its all about supporting the services you like and are trying to be an counterweight to the other common commercial services… Meaning we need to found/pay for good services, privacy is a luxary looking on the whole user base.

Companies, I based on an idea, but exist to make someone money and if it’s tracks it will make many people money and in the end majority will lead the company to earn money and leave the base idea behind.

  • Same here, loved Link to the past, one of my first games. It’s, together with Super mario world, the game i replayed most times.

Didn’t jump on the n64 train so I missed all games that still are considered master pieces. I don’t care for them and does not share the love for them as most of gaming media portraits 3d gaming revolution.

Got old enough to both own a ps2 and GameCube and completely fell in love in Windwaker, the graphics, the feeling of world exploring, fishing for treasures, hooked it up with my Gameboy advance sp.

But it was not well received by the community so twilight princess was an complete disappointment for me when Nintendo returned to well proven n64 format. I never completed the game

I’ve tried Zelda skyward swords, it seemed promising but I hated the motion controls sooo much to the level I though it ruined the game.

I finally returned to nintendo after buying a switch last year and off course together with breath of the wild. Loved the world building and graphics, but the open world game play does not suit me, where I can run into overpowered enemies by accident and the worst game decisions to add breakable equipment… When finishing the end boss I felt I hadn’t completed the game but I didn’t care to go back and grind myself thorough endless battels to do what…

With tears of the kingdom I read that the creators had put more focus on open world concepts with creation tools and adhooks to enhance capabilities of weapons etc which isn’t my cup of tea.

Im missing the cosy feeling I got from link to the past and wind waker, BOTW was close, but my fond memory may be an illusion since Wind waker only been re-realsed for Wii U… I was certain it would have been released for the switch when I bought it but yet that hope is fading away.

  • The log provides some error messages on addons/extensions e.g. HACS, miele, Bosch etc but I assume they were standard due to note is only “these are not fully tested with Hass”

However I’m still confused that a fresh install didn’t work either. And observer still works.

No new items has been added to my network.

I’ll try a docker version fram another server and see if that works
